PRIVACY POLICY FOR RACEPING

This Privacy Policy governs the collection, use, and sharing of personal information by RacePing, a Discord bot developed by kasey ("Bot Owner", "we", "us"). By using RacePing, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We store only what the bot needs to remember your settings:

Your Discord user ID, when you use personal features such as reminder subscriptions — together with your reminder preferences (series, lead time, language and timezone).
Notification delivery records: recipient user or server/channel IDs, series and event identifiers, delivery status and timestamps, used to prevent duplicate posts.
Server (guild) IDs and server settings: default language and timezone, and — when an administrator configures them — channel subscriptions (channel ID, series, lead time and whether results should be posted).
Public race data (schedules, results, standings) comes from third-party sports-data APIs and may include publicly listed driver names and profile details. Responses are temporarily cached in memory.

We do not store usernames, message content, or command history. We do not intentionally collect passwords, tokens, email addresses, or other sensitive credentials. Please do not share such information with the bot.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your information to:

Operate and maintain RacePing and provide its features (reminders, channel posts, language and timezone settings)
Provide support and respond to your requests
Fix bugs
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

3. SHARING YOUR INFORMATION

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

We may disclose your information only:

In response to legal process or a request from a law enforcement agency or regulatory authority
To protect the rights, safety, or integrity of RacePing, its users, or the public
As required to comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines

Hosting and infrastructure providers used to run the bot may technically process data (e.g. logs), but only as necessary to provide the service.

4. DATA RETENTION

We keep stored settings and subscriptions until you ask us to delete them — there is no automatic expiry, including after the bot is removed from a server.

To request deletion, contact us by email at kaseyowski@proton.me or on Discord as kaseyowski and include your user ID and the server ID if relevant.
We will delete your information upon your request or when it is no longer needed.

5. DATA SECURITY

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. However, no security measure is perfect, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.

6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

RacePing is intended for Discord users who meet Discord's minimum age requirement (13 years old in most regions, higher where required by law). We do not knowingly collect data from children under that age.

7. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on your location (e.g. EU/EEA under GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Contact us at kaseyowski@proton.me to exercise these rights.

8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy with a revised effective date. Your continued use of RacePing after changes are posted indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
